What will I be doing in the role?

As a vital part of our Tool Hire team, you will be required to:

  • Diagnose faults and repair/maintain a variety of small plant tools in the fleet including compressors, mini- excavators, dumpers, small tools etc, both on and off site.
  • Update equipment service records once checked and tagged.
  • Ensure transport and delivery schedules are maintained to provide optimum customer service.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current Tool Hire and industry Health & Safety procedures, ensuring compliance with all legal and Company requirements.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and road worthiness of vehicles, both inside and out, and report any defects to Management.
  • Ensure daily checks are carried out on all vehicles in accordance with Company Policy, legal requirements and that any issues are escalated as appropriate prior to their operation.
  • Load and unload vehicles in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Complete all the legal driving documentation in accordance with Company Policy and legal requirements.
  • Manage the loading and unloading process, including customer deliveries, suppliers deliveries and Inter-branch transfers (IBT) as per the Company’s procedure.
  • Check incoming products against Proof of Delivery, complete documentation and report missing or damaged products to Branch Manager / Area Workshop Manager.
  • Participate in stocktake duties as required.
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.

For the Tool Hire Area Workshop Fitter specifically, it is important that you have:

  • Knowledge of petrol and diesel engines.
  • Experience of mechanics and the repair of electrical OR hydraulic equipment.
  • Experience in contractor's plant and tools is essential.
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous experience in providing excellent customer service.
  • Driving is required with all roles therefore you must have a full driving license.
  • CITB/NVQ qualification is preferable.
  • Experience of towing desirable but we will provide full training.
