VIE CAPEX Purchaser and Logistic Coordinator / Pilot Purchaser (W/M)

Position description

The candidate will support the GMT and Central Purchasing Team of the Gypsum Activities of the Saint-Gobain Group, with:

  • from one side, the implementation and optimization of the CAPEX purchasing strategy & actions and help to improve the CAPEX purchasing process as well as to contribute to the diversification and optimization of the supplier portfolio and realization of targeted cost savings


  • from the second side, with the implementation and optimization of the expediting & logistic actions related to major CAPEX projects, in order to allow a time- and cost efficient import of equipment in the country where the Gypsum Activity of Saint-Gobain invests.


For logistic activity

  • Perform an “expeditor” role for the Gypsum Activity
  • Work with suppliers and Saint-Gobain’s teams (Engineering, Logistics, Purchasing, and Finance) to compile the “Master List” documents as required for tax free import of equipment.
  • Implement packaging specifications and make sure they are well understood and respected by the suppliers.
  • Contribute to the development of Logistic Guidelines, together with the project team and implement them.
  • Manage the logistic for Greenfield and brownfield project by:
    • Managing the logistic provider selection (Tender, Negotiation, Contract…)
    • Daily follow up of the ongoing shipment:
      • Check if paper work as required for shipment and import of the equipment is there on time and completed as specified. Incl. check on consistency of information in Bill of Lading, packing list, Commercial Invoice & Master List.
      • Witness the loading of the containers at suppliers (where required).
      • Check if proper packaging is applied according to Saint-Gobain specifications & instructions.
      • Check lashing and securing of the load, prior to transport/shipment of equipment.
      • Check physical properties and quantity of the load to match rules, regulations regarding maximum dimensions/weight of transport as well as check if it matches the information on the shipping & import documents.
      • Report and correct inconsistencies where detected.
  • Reporting:
    • Financial and operational follow up per project
    • Track report of progress
    • Action Tracking List


For Purchasing activity

  • Perform a “pilot purchaser” role for the Gypsum & Insulation Activities of the Saint-Gobain Group, with world-wide responsibility for certain equipment in strong cooperation with the technical expert who´s part of the pilot team.
  • Purchasing support to major greenfield/brownfield CAPEX projects.
  • Identify & implement new sources of supply & savings potential for these piloted categories.
  • Further development & use of Purchasing E-tools;
    • E-RFI (request for information), E-RFQ’s (request for quotations) and of SRM (supplier evaluation), in the Saint-Gobain E-tool: “ProSource”.
    • Complete/maintain CAPEX supplier data in Saint-Gobain’s CAPEX supplier database and contribute to improvements of the Saint-Gobain E-tool: “CapexNet”.
    • Development, improvement, and use of other tools like negotiation sheets, TCOanalysis,
  • Reporting:
    • Purchaser Performance Measurement to report CAPEX savings
    • Monthly Purchasing Dashboard
    • Action Tracking List for major CAPEX projects



  • Technical background: Mechanical engineering (MSc) or similar and/or Commercial background: Master 2 in Purchasing or in International business
  • A first experience in Purchasing is appreciated
  • Languages:
    • English
    • French
  • Additional languages like German, Spanish, … would be a plus
  • Computer skills:
    • Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
    • Affinity with IT and databases
