How will you utilise your experience?

This role is working within SGTS, the IT support function of Saint-Gobain. We are made up of some of the best and well known manufacturing businesses within the construction industry and have a unique opportunity for someone who is experienced in managing IT infrastructure within manufacturing or industrial sites to join us.

We have over 15 manufacturing businesses in the UK alone who each take responsibility for their industrial IT infrastructure locally. We are working to implement and standardise robust processes across each of these businesses and implement a transformation process to ensure that each business has the same support opportunity and suitable infrastructure.

How do we build a plan for success? This is where you come in, this role is very broad and requires someone who can ‘wear many hats’ and influence at different levels. We require someone who is technical enough to identify the requirements of the business but managerial enough to plan how we implement a solution. The key areas of the role include:

  • Take on the support of standard manufacturing IT infrastructures, and ensure they meet SGTS standards
  • Act as a focal point for internal customers, suppliers, SGTS and DSI teams in the event of operational or project issues
  • Develop support processes and supplier relationships that underpin service level agreements for Industrial IT equipment supported by SGTS
  • Provide compliant IT solutions to manufacturing teams and help ensure existing IT standards are used in manufacturing area of plants
  • Ownership of the development of standardised processes for Manufacturing Infrastructures
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing IT correspondents and ensure regular reviews
  • Audit of business continuity plans and compliance to Saint-Gobain security rules for manufacturing
  • Provide consultative services for business infrastructure, incl. co-ordination of studies and solutions design to meet business needs in a compliant manner
  • Support digital solutions and Industry 4.0 initiatives

What kind of person are we looking for?

First and foremost, we always want to recruit talented people that align well with our values and way of working. In addition to the five Saint-Gobain attitudes we shared at the start, suitability for the role is always key; does the following criteria sound like you?

  • IT related degree or equivalent relevant experience, with previous experience of a supervisory / management position in an IT support role
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing and supporting Industrial or Manufacturing IT infrastructure essential (incl. understanding of SCADA, MES and PLC)
  • Good technical knowledge of Microsoft solutions, Unix, networking and IT infrastructures. Certifications an advantage
  • Project and Service Management experience, incl. using methodologies such as Prince2 and ITIL (experience of change control, incident & problem management)
  • Financial analysis and service contract management experience
  • Strong customer service focus and analytical skills; you will be dealing with complex situations
  • The ability to convey technical and business requirements to a wide audience, from IT technician to business stakeholder
  • This role will require regular travel and you must have a driving licence (company car provided)
