In this role you will lead a Service Delivery team, taking accountability for the provision of IT support to the business and ensuring that any disruption to service is minimised. It’s critical that you understand the importance of supported systems to a level where the commercial business benefit impact of a malfunction can be interrogated and assessed, leading to the appropriate level of action and priority being given to the resolution process.

You will be required to:

  • Understand the criticality of supported systems to a level where the commercial business benefit impact of a malfunction can be interrogated and assessed, leading to the appropriate level of action and priority being given to the resolution process.
  • Ensure that Incidents and Service Requests assigned to the team are fulfilled in a timely manner and that customers are sent notification when work is complete.
  • Ensure that the team provide the expected level of IT support to the business and that any disruption to service is minimised.
  • Provide a point of escalation for issues raised by team members, including both technical queries and more general issues.
  • Engage with software vendors in order to the review service received by SGBD, plan upgrades and patch application and to ensure that a good working relationship is maintained.
  • Build relationships with representatives in key business areas in order to review the service provided by the team, and understand how systems are used throughout the business.

Skills and experience required:

Essential

  • The ability to lead a team, and provide guidance to team members.
  • Experience of supporting and working with enterprise applications.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge in relevant areas.
  • The ability to mentor team members when required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to build good working relationships with other areas of IT and key business areas.
  • Documentation and/or process writing experience.
  • An understanding of application architecture.
  • An understanding of system interfacing principles.
  • An understanding of relational databases.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional experience.

Desirable

  • Experience of leading a team.
  • ITIL Foundation qualified.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • Shell, Batch or PowerShell scripting skills.
