Business Unit Director - Jewson Builders' Merchants – Lincolnshire (South)

Having the right tools for the job is essential and for Jewson, that's our people! We're currently seeking an ambitious and dedicated Business Unit Director within the South Lincolnshire area.

A typical Jewson Business Unit has around 80-120 colleagues, including sales and operational teams, supporting circa 2000 live customer accounts from multiple branch locations.

As a Jewson Business Unit Director, you will manage all resources across a designated cluster of branches, leveraging a strong business performance for the business whilst being fully accountable for the P&L at the Business Unit level. Working closely with your Local Sales Manager, you’ll also look to deliver a differentiated customer value proposition and develop a clear succession plan that will allow both the Business Unit and Jewson as whole to grow.

It's preferable that you can bring experience gained in a comparable environment, where you have been required to drive sales and manage operations within a multi-site operation.

As a Business Unit Director, you will be focused to deliver and include the following:

  • Implement the Jewson Local Business Unit transformation within each branch.
  • Lead, support and coach your Local Sales Manager and Branch Managers in delivering a differentiated customer value proposition and total profit targets for the unit.
  • Develop strong relationships with all key customers and suppliers across the business unit.
  • Challenge the performance of the sales and operations functions, taking corrective actions or providing coaching where required.
  • Work with your HR Business Partner to develop a robust people plan across the business unit.
  • Make critical decisions on the continual improvement of the retail concept.

To be successful in this role as Business Unit Director, it's expected that you will have similar experience in:

  • Leading, coaching and motivating sales and operational teams, ideally within a multi-site/retail environment.
  • Understanding your customers and the local market.
  • Commercial acumen and P&L accountability and operational governance.
  • Engaging and influencing your team and others at all levels
  • Communicating effectively and leading teams to ensure customer relationships are managed across a broad business area.
