Operations Trainee - International Timber - Based in Purfleet, Essex

International Timber are the largest supplier and distributor of timber and panel products in the UK, specialising in the import, processing and distribution of Softwoods (Clear, Structural) / Hardwoods, Panel products and Cladding & Decking Engineered timber.

We are looking for an ambitious and dedicated individual to start their career with us and become an integral part of our Operations team here at our Purfleet site. Becoming an Operations Trainee means that you will have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills, gaining overall knowledge of all aspects of Operations within a globally recognised brand.

As an Operations Trainee with International Timber, you will:

  • Provide ongoing support to Operations functions on site (e.g. Shipping, Manufacturing, Purchasing) working as an effective member of the team and continuously developing your own knowledge.
  • Receive and direct incoming calls and enquiries, ensuring these are transferred to the relevant person/department.
  • Maintain safe operating practices through regular Health & Safety checks in line with Company & legislative standards.
  • Ensure all Operational reporting and administrative records (Training, Maintenance, Health & Safety) are kept up to date and accurate.
  • Demonstrate a professional approach at all times, and flexibility to work within the requirements of the role.

For the Operations Trainee role specifically, you’ll need:

  • Good IT literacy skills, ideally proficient in Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent administration skills backed up by good numeracy/literacy abilities.
  • Excellent and professional telephone manner alongside good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Health & Safety principles.
  • To be comfortable working hands-on across a range of operational settings, from a busy warehouse to a dedicated office environment.
  • An enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn and progress - self-motivated, driven by challenges, as well as having the hunger to succeed.
