Fluid Engineer

Position description

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer. The main subject of the position will be to support the industrial plant construction projects in Saint Gobain Glass plants across the world and manage global standards for fluid circuits and cooling systems. More specically, he/she will be responsable of :

  • Supporting the industrial investment projects across Saint Gobain Glass plants
    • Define the specifications with the local project team based on the global Saint Gobain Glass standards
    • Support and validate the basic and detailed design activities from engineering companies
    • Participate to the call of tender process (offer analysis and technical alignments)
    • Follow-Up of the manufacturing and erection phases
    • Supervise the equipment tests (at supplier site, in the plant) and commissioning (Glass Tests)
    • Assist the start-up of the installations
  • Managing and improve the global standards for fluids circuits (Water cooling, Water treatment and distribution, Fuel and Technical gas distribution, Compressed Air distribution, Ventilation, Fire Fighting…)
  • Contributing continuously to the improvement of the design of the Glass Plants towards higher project and production efficiency (CAPEX, schedule, Total Cost of Ownership)
  • Managing global projects related to water consumption saving and energy saving and support local projects
  • Supporting the existing plant maintenance and operation teams in case of specific needs.


  • Education

Mechanical Engineer or equivalent

Basic knowledge in Cooling System Technologies, Air Blowers and Ventilation Systems, Combustible Gas distribution systems (ATEX)

  • Knowledge /Technical competencies

Strong experience in large industrial investment projects (min 5 years)

Experience in supplier management (engineering, erection)

Experience in pre-assembled piping and instrumentation solutions

Fluent use of MS office and collaboration tools.

Familiar with 2D and 3D CAD solutions (AutoCad, Revit)

Familiar with P&ID documents

Fluent English oral and written skills mandatory.

French language is a plus.

Additional Requirements

There will be 2 types of international missions

  • Up to 2-month continuous stay in plants during commissioning of the installations (Glass Tests). Typically, once per year, possibly twice per year.
  • Regular short trips (up to 1 week per trip) to suppliers or plants during project phase (engineering, manufacturing, erection)

Representing between 30% to 40% of international travelling outside of Glass Test period

NOTE : Total Travelling time  could reach 60-70% of total working time in  critical periods

 20 to 40% home office possibilities, when not traveling and not in critical periods
