Position description

Job Purpose : This is a central engineering position responsible for design and implementation of new automation systems at gypsum & insulation manufacturing plants worldwide.This person is expected to work autonomously with little technical input from management. This person is responsible for designing PLC systems for board plants plasters plants and glasswool/stonewool plants.This person will contribute to a typical electrical & automation scope of 100k€ to 5M€ as part of a much larger project ranging up to 150M€. This position will also manage and direct installation contractors. This position also has project management and implementation duties, such as scheduling, field commissioning, production support.

Main responsabilities

  • Lead of PLC software design for strategic TIP projects
  • Commissioning of new equipment and processes
  • Continuous improvements to the control of our processes.
  • Provide expert support to operating plants
  • Provide training to plant automation engineers
  • Manage and direct contractors

Job Complexity

  • Team working with an international team split between four locations: East Leake (UK), Rantigny (France), Chambery (France), Bangalore (India).
  • Working with people from different cultures worldwide.
  • Frequent and extensive international travels.
  • Technical knowledge of PLC systems, field networks, drive systems, instrumentation.
  • Technical knowledge of several programming languages: Ladder, SCL.
  • Contact and train people in the plant teams: automation engineers, process engineers and operators.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Technician or engineer degree with a significant experience (min. 5-7 years) in projects and in industrial environment

Knowledge /Experience /Technical competencies

  • Specialist in PLC programming: Rockwell, Siemens.
  • Working knowledge of scada systems (WinCC / Ignition)
  • Good understanding of the process control of highly automated, high speed (24/7) process or mechanical handling industries.
  • Preferably: good understanding of the process control in one of the following process areas
    • Plaster board formation, mixing & forming
    • Calcination, material drying and grinding.
    • Fiberizing
    • Board handling.
  • Site experience (commissioning / Start-ups) in high speed (24/7) process or mechanical handling industries.
  • Ability to lead innovation in PLC programming & process control.
  • Project Management experience
  • English: spoken and written
