Position description

Cement-based materials such as "ready to use" concrete, mortars for external application and for flooring are complex fluids. Such products are usually transported by pumping and can be also sprayed. High shearing and high pressures are critical parameters that can affect the stability, workability and pumpability of the cement-based materials.

Knowledge of the fundamental rheological properties of any cement-based material can be an indication of how the material is going to behave under various processing conditions . and high-pressure rheology appears to be a tool to conduct rheological measurements under high pressure. Such tool allows to measure the rheological properties while maintaining a high pressure to simulate the pumping process. However, a very few studies refer to the use of such a tool and both the handling and the understanding of the results need the development of a dedicated expertise.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The objective is to provide an assessment of the main flow behavior of a model cement paste. There will be then an interest to understand the effect of "hydrostatic" pressure on flow properties by performing standard rheological measurements using a high-pressure shear cell. The definition of the right protocol to perform rheological measurement under pressure will be important.

Localization : in Navier Lab (2 Allée Kepler 77420 Champs sur Marne), there might be a need to perform experiments in Saint Gobain research center (SGR Paris).
