Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, People & Culture, the Fleet, Shipping & Distribution Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing all fleet, transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities across the organization. This role ensures the efficient movement, storage, and delivery of products while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, customer service, and operational performance.
The successful candidate will oversee both internal fleet operations and external transportation partnerships, driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service levels, maximize efficiency, and support business growth.

Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee all shipping, warehousing, distribution, and fleet operations across multiple locations.
- Ensure customer delivery commitments are consistently achieved while maintaining product quality standards.
- Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities and proactively communicate any shipping delays or service disruptions.
- Optimize transportation capacity through effective route planning, fleet utilization, and carrier management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with third-party transportation providers to ensure capacity, service excellence, and competitive pricing.
- Partner closely with sales, operations, and customer service teams to enhance customer satisfaction and service delivery.
- Manage the organization's truck and equipment fleet, including maintenance scheduling, licensing, permitting, mileage reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee loading operations to ensure products are shipped accurately, safely, and efficiently.
- Analyze transportation, warehousing, and fleet performance metrics to identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings.
- Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damaged freight, and customer delivery concerns.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standardized operating procedures, training programs, and quality control processes for shipping and distribution activities.
- Ensure all yard, warehouse, and shipping areas remain safe, organized, and efficient.
- Establish and enforce yard traffic control and loading quality assurance programs.
Health & Safety
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Maintain and enforce health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections and support all aspects of the corporate Health & Safety program.
- Monitor safety performance indicators, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Promote ongoing safety awareness and accountability throughout the team.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop Shipping, Distribution, and Fleet employees to achieve operational excellence.
- Foster collaboration and teamwork across departments and locations.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate business objectives, operational performance, safety initiatives, and procedural updates.
- Support workforce planning, employee development, and succession planning initiatives.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations activities.
- Ensure compliance with hours-of-service regulations and monitor driver activity through GPS and fleet management systems.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and performance-oriented work environment.
To make sure nothing is forgotten
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in logistics, transportation, fleet, or distribution management, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, warehousing practices, and supply chain logistics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees.
- Experience with ERP systems and logistics management software is considered a strong asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel between company locations as required.
- Positive, hands-on leadership style with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced manufacturing and distribution environment.
- Regular interaction with warehouse, yard, transportation, and operational teams.
- Ability to lift materials up to 50 pounds when required.
- Ability to safely operate various types of material handling equipment, including forklifts.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as operational needs require.

Saint-Gobain aims to deliver a comprehensive Total Rewards package to support our employees’ wellbeing and help improve daily life for themselves and their families. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates, the base pay range for this position is $90 000 to $115 000 per year. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary bonus.
