Position description


We currently seek an experienced CNC Lathe Operator/Programmer for our manufacturing facility in Carol Stream, IL.  Work in an air-conditioned facility with outstanding benefits!

The following duties will be performed by the successful candidate:

  • Sets up and operates Mazak and Mori Seki CNC Lathe machines, making machine adjustment to produce required results.
  • Performs basic programming of required machine tools thorough the use of the machine controller and CAM/DNC network.
  • Reads, understands, edits and interprets CNC programs.
  • Rough and finish machine parts (simple to complex) from various types of materials while maintaining tolerances to desired fit.
  • Acts as critical aid in developing prototype products, tooling, and fixtures with Engineering.
  • Develops recommendations for related methods or process improvements.
  • Loads control data and enters commands, calculates and sets machine controls to regulate cutting depth, speed, and feed and coolant flow of machines.
  • Set-up and maintain machine shop inspection equipment, including sophisticated tools such as electronic height gages, profilometers, cadilac gages, and comparators as well as able to perform part inspection.
  • Assures tools and machines are maintained in clean and proper condition for usage.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area.
  • Follows all safety procedures, including the wearing of required protective equipment.
  • Performs other duties as directed by Department Supervisor.
  • Adherence to the Quality Policy and Standard Operating Procedures.


The successful candidate should possess the following skills:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalency
  • Skill and knowledge in set-up, adjustment and operation of Mazak and Mori Seki CNC Lathe
  • Knowledge of Conversational language
  • Knowledge of G and/or M codes a plus
  • Skill and knowledge necessary in utilizing shop math and measuring instruments
  • Must be able to read and interpret Blueprints
  • Must be able to convert measurements from Metric to Inches
  • Must be able to write and record detailed entries for record keeping
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal directions/instructions
  • Practice safe work habits, maintain equipment and work areas in a 5S environment
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Ability to use variety of hand tools and power tools
